Tankers Fall to Washington University on Saturday

The Wabash College swimming and diving team lost a 161-82 decision to Washington University of St. Louis on Saturday afternoon at the Class of 1950 Natatorium.

The Little Giants faced a strong and deep Bears team on Saturday less than 24 hours after competing against arch-rival DePauw University. Wabash took two first-place finishes in the meet. Freshman Matt Perkins (Indianapolis, IN/Brownsburg) took top honors in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:03.67. Teammate Dennis Bowers (Seymour, IN/Seymour) was third (2:09.35). Sophomore Ben Hewitt (Greenwood, IN/Center Grove) won the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:16.83. Sophomore Colin Fahey (Indianapolis, IN/Bishop Chatard) finished second (2:18.86).

Hewitt added a second-place finish in the 200-yard individual medley (2:03.81).

Wabash's final dual meet of the season will take place on Saturday afternoon as the Little Gianst will compete against Rose-Hulman and Millikin in a double-dual meet at 2 p.m. at the Rose-Hulman facility.
