Wabash Rolls in 83-60 Victory over Franklin

Wabash exploded for 58 points from close range on Tuesday night as the Little Giants earned an 83-60 victory over Franklin College on Tuesday night at Chadwick Court.

The Little Giant bench accounted for 30 points, including a 5-for-5 shooting effort by senior Jesse Burgess (Camby, IN/Mooresville), who scored 12 points and grabbed five rebound in the win. Burgess' scoring output came in 19 minutes coming off the bench for Wabash.

Senior Brady Claxton (Shelbyville, IN/Shelbyville) led the Little Giants with 20 points. Senior All-American Joe DesJean (Indianapolis, IN/Perry Meridian) added 14.

The Little Giants jumped out to a 9-2 lead on a Claxton jumper before the Grizzlies cut the lead to four. Claxton answered the Franklin run with a three-pointer, helping Wabash pull away for good. The lead jumped to 16 with six minutes left when Claxton scored on a layup for two of the 58 Wabash points in the lane. A final Claxton layup just before halftime gave Wabash a 41-22 lead at the break.

The Little Giants outscored Franklin 42-34 in the second half to earn their second victory of the season.

Wabash hit 63-percent from the field and 60-percent from the three-point arc. The Little Giants outrebounded Franklin 37-26.

Wabash will travel to Colorado over the Thanksgiving holiday to play in the Radisson Inn Thanskgiving Tournament, hosted by Colorado College. Wabash will open with Tufts University on Friday afternoon at 3 p.m.
