Tennis Team Even In NCAC After Loss

The Wabash tennis team found itself even in the North Coast Athletic Conference Western Division after losing to Wittenberg University 7-0 on Saturday afternoon. The Little Giants' season mark went to 9-15 after a 5-2 loss to Case Western Reserve on Saturday evening.

The Little Giants appeared to get off to a good start against Wittenberg on Saturday. Senior Mark Ratner (Indianapolis, IN/North Central) won the first set of the No. 1 singles match 6-1. But Wittenberg's Bryan Heft came back to take 6-1 victories in the second and third sets to win the match.

Scott Paramoure (Logansport, IN/Logansport) also won the first set of his No. 2 singles match 6-1 before losing the second and third sets 6-7 (5-2), 6-2. Constantine Alexander (Kokomo, IN/Kokomo) took a 6-2 victory in the first set of the No. 3 singles match, but lost 6-3, 6-2 in the final two sets.

Ratner won the No. 1 singles match against Case Western Reserve with a 6-1, 6-4 straight set victory. Ratner and his No. 1 doubles teammate, Brian Miller (Ft. Wayne, IN/Homestead), took an 8-5 victory in their match. Paramoure and Alexander combined for an 8-4 win at No. 2 doubles. Todd Witte (Grand Rapids, MI/West Catholic) and Daniel Altman (Monticello, IN/Twin Lakes) completed the doubles sweep for the Little Giants with a 9-7 win at No. 3 doubles.

Wabash will finish its regular season schedule on Saturday, travelling to face Huntington College at 11 a.m. The Little Giants will participate in the NCAC Tournament May 5-6.
