Track and Field Fifth At Intercollegiates

The Wabash College track and field team grabbed a fifth-place finish at the Indiana Intercollegiate Meet on Saturday. The Little Giants competed against 20 other teams from around the state, and were the third-best Division III school in the final standings.

Antoine Carpenter (Indianapolis, IN/Ben Davis), Modou Jagne (Banjul, The Gambia/Gambia), and John Crumpacker (Crawfordsville, IN/Ben Davis) had the best individual finishes for Wabash. Carpenter set his best time of the season in the preliminary heat 100-meter dash witha a 11.19, finished in second place with a time of 11.29. Jagne added a second place in the triple jump with a jump of 46-02 1/4. The junior also finished in fourth place in the long jump with a leap of 22-06 1/4. Crumpacker led the way in the pole vault for Wabash, clearing 14-06 for a second-place finish. Teammate Marshall Davis (Kokomo, IN/Kokomo) finished with a height of 14-0 for fourth place in the pole vault.

Other top finishers for the Little Giants included Mike Vega (Lake Station, IN/Lake Station) in the 5,000-meter run (15:33.33), Kyle Hall (Louisville, IN/Seneca) in the 10,000-meter run (33:36.00), and Bob Munson (Albion, IN) in the hammer throw (147-08).
