Tennis Team Sweeps Ohio Wesleyan

The Wabash tennis team rebounded from a loss on Friday to Denison with a 7-0 victory over Ohio Wesleyan University on Saturday afternoon.

Wabash swept the doubles matches to open the meet. Mark Ratner (Indianapolis, IN/North Central) and Brian Miller (Ft. Wayne, IN/Homestead) took an 8-2 victory at No. 1 doubles, as did Constantine Alexander (Kokomo, IN/Kokomo) and Scott Paramoure (Logansport, IN/Logansport) at No. 2 doubles. Todd Witte (Grand Rapids, MI/West Catholic) and Daniel Altman (Monticello, IN/Twin Lakes) took an 8-4 win at No. 3 doubles.

Ratner went three sets before winning at No. 1 singles. Ratner won the fisrt set 7-6 (7-3) before falling in the second set 1-6. The senior rallied in third to win the match 6-3.

Paramoure was a 7-6 (8-6), 6-4 winner at No. 2 singles. Alexander cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 3 singles, as did Altman at No. 4 singles (6-0, 6-1) and Andrew Shelton (Indianapolis, IN/North Central) at No. 6 singles (6-01, 6-1).

Miller completed the sweep with a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 4 singles.

Wabash is 9-12 with the win, 2-1 in the North Coast Athletic Conference Western Division.

No. 4 singles - Brian Miller (W) defeated Aaron Violand (OWU) 6-2, 6-1

No. 5 singles - Daniel Altman (W) defeatd Blaise Morrison (OWU) 6-0, 6-1

No 6. singles - Andrew Shelton (W) defeated Andres Leuy (OWU) 6-0, 6-1

No. 1 doubles - Ratner and Miller (W) defeated Pearson and Claypool (OWU) 8-2

No. 2 doubles - Alexander and Paramoure (W) defeated Violand and Morrison (OWU) 8-2

No. 3 doubles - Todd Witte and Altman (W) defeated Coale and Levy (OWU) 8-4
