Basketball Team Claims Pete Thorn Championship

Senior Ryan Short hit a three-pointer as the shot clock expired with 6:08 to play in the championship game of the 12th annual Pete Thorn Invitational. The basket pushed Wabash's lead to 11 points, and the defense took over from there in a 67-53 win over Marian College.

The Little Giants, now 7-2 on the season, held Marian to just three points in the final 6:47 of the game en route to the tournament title.

Wabash senior center Eric Buck earned tournament Most Valuable Player honors with a solid championship game. He scored 10 points, grabbed five rebounds, and blocked two shots shots in 21 minutes.

Brady Claxton led all scorers with 13 points, and the senior guard added five rebounds and five assists.

Joe DesJean (9 points, 10 rebounds) and Pleas Ferguson (7 points, 4 rebounds) joined Buck on the All-Tournament Team.

The Little Giants break for final exams next week, and return to action January 3 with a road game at Hiram College in North Coast Athletic Conference play.
