Title: PQ: Global Design & Puppetry
Course Section Number: THE-303-01
Department: Theater
Description: This is by Instructor consent and for FR, SO and JR only. Here is your chance to lean in to your artistic self and study global design, both here and abroad. Anchored in Czech theatrical design and puppet history, the course will explore global design themes throughout history and build to the development of a personal Philosophy of Design. We will then travel to Prague, Czechia, to become immersed in that city's deep cultural and artistic heritage, testing our theories against some of the world's highest-caliber theatrical design projects. We'll be attending theatrical and puppet performances, art and cultural museums, with three days at the internationally-renowned Prague Quadrennial exhibition, with this year's theme, "Absences and Silences." Plus, you will get to create your own puppet with the carving masters at Puppets-in-Prague!
