| Title: | Money |
|---|---|
| Course Section Number: | PPE-329-01 |
| Department: | Philosophy, Politics, Economic |
| Description: | Money makes the world go 'round. Money is the root of all evil. Time is money. Money talks. Does anything else in life have such metaphorical versatility? In this course, we will think about something that everyone is familiar with but few of us (maybe none of us) truly understand: money. We will study its history, as well as classic and contemporary debates about its meaning, significance, and purpose. We will interrogate how money is bound up with power not only in terms of who has it, but in who has the right to create it - this will include conversations about the status of the U.S. dollar as a world currency. We will also inquire into the potential future of money in the form of cryptocurrency. |
