Description: This course explores the intersection of art and the environment, providing students with an understanding of how global artists have creatively engaged with environmental issues. The course locates contemporary practice within historical and cultural contexts while focusing on the Anthropocene and its effect on the late-20th to 21st century. By examining various artistic mediums, including visual arts, land art, performance art, and multimedia installations, students will develop a critical appreciation for the ways in which art can raise awareness, provoke dialogue, and inspire action in relation to environmental concerns.
