| Description: | FACE TO FACE COURSE FRT-101-11: Water and Public Health: All Hands on Deck Anne Bost is a microbiologist and an active member of Wabash's Global Health Initiative. She enjoys lively conversations, research, music, reading, dogs, anything outdoors, and ice cream. In 2019 the World Health Organization reported that 1 out of 3 people globally lack safe drinking water. How did this disparity of Water Haves and Have Nots come to be? How is water access changing with climate change? What are the impacts on human health? How can you make a difference? In our tutorial, we will contemplate the intricate historical and modern linkages between human health and sociopolitical, economic, and cultural development. Using case studies, we will apply multiple liberal arts lenses to consider how best to address global (including local) health crises. What does it mean to think critically, lead effectively, act responsibly, and live humanely in an inequitable world? Come share your thoughts! |
