| Title: | Music Videos: Hist & Analysis |
|---|---|
| Course Section Number: | MUS-204-01 |
| Department: | Music |
| Description: | Since the early 1980s music videos have impacted the way audiences listen to music. The music video as a genre has changed significantly since its inception as has its relationship to pop songs. This is the result of many factors, including technology, industry, changing tastes of the public, and changing expectations for artists. In this class students will examine the cultural history of the music video and develop methods for formal analysis. We will analyze videos that represent key moments in the medium's history and development, but the students and their experiences will largely determine the videos we discuss. No prerequisites are required for this course. |
