Description: FRESHMEN ONLY SECTION HIS 260-02/02F: China, 400 BCE-400 CE This course surveys the Warring States Era and the early Chinese Dynasties - Qin, Han, and the Han's immediate successors, constituting the "classical" period of Chinese history. While encompassing a broad range of topics including economic, social and cultural aspects of Chinese life in this era, the focus will be on the political development of the Chinese state, including its philosophical foundations and the evolution of its administrative and military mechanisms.
