Description: ASI 260-01/01F = HIS 260-01/01F: China's Cultural Revolution In 1966, Mao Zedong declared the start of China's Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution, a political and ideological campaign to mobilize China's youth against traditional institutions of all kinds. What followed were ten years of violence and chaos that left an irrevocable mark on Chinese history. This course will consider the causes and legacies of the Cultural Revolution from multiple perspectives. We will study the experiences of individuals from all walks of society as well as how the event has been remembered in a variety of media. Prerequisites: None Credits: 1 Instructor: Cara Healey
