14 World Rhythms (1975) by Annea Lockwood (full version)
Simply the first widely heard work of environmental music using only natural sounds as sources. Although a mixture of recordings of various natural sounds, Lockwood’s work did not employ tape manipulation, loops, or other effects to modify the sounds. She carefully organized and transitioned the sounds to create a slowly unfolding soundscape, allowing the audio material to stand on its own merits.
