Associate Professor of Economics Peter Mikek presented “Flipped Classroom Pedagogy in Macroeconomics.” His research concluded that the flipped classroom model, which is a type of blended learning where students are introduced to content at home and practice working through it in class, does not improve students’ academic performance and grade outcomes.

Nikolai Jones ’24 attended Ides of August, and watched Krause’s presentation. Jones interned with the physics professor this summer and explored the consequences of a quantum particle being in the forbidden region of a potential.

In the NSF-sponsored research effort, Sorensen-Kamakian mentioned that 19 students are assisting with the project and those students gave 18 presentations on the topic on and off campus last year.
