Wabash Student Published in Indianapolis Monthly

Senior Jeremy Fackenthal's byline has made the December 2002 issue of Indianapolis Monthly magazine.

Fackenthal's piece on Wabash art professor Greg Huebner focuses on the artist's "Bass Lines" exhibit, now on exhibition at the Ruschman Gallery in Indianapolis. Huebner's paintings, which also were exhibited on the Wabash campus to open the year, will be on display at the Ruschman Gallery until December 31.

"Immersed in the smoky tones of 1950s and '60s jazz musicians, the professor found himself "singing" his paintings. Huebner says artists establish the composition of a painting over an underlying foundation. Jazz is similar, he believes, because the bass provides a 'bass' for the music. And like painting, jazz is all about color, texture, and rhythm."

This is Fackenthal's first time in print in Indianapolis Monthly, appearing on page 74 of the "Best of Indy" issue. He is currently serving as an intern for the magazine as part of an independent study with English professor Tobey Herzog.

Fackenthal is a German and religion double major who plans to attend divinity school upon graduation from Wabash. Fackenthal resides in Indianapolis, and is a graduate of Ben Davis High School.
