Wamidan Ensemble to Give Concert

Wamidan EnsembleWabash College’s Wamidan Ensemble will present its 18th annual Campus Concert at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 4, in Salter Concert Hall in the Fine Arts Center.

Under the direction of James K. Makubuya, Wamidan will present instrumental pieces and songs from a diverse range of musical cultures. In addition, the ensemble will give an audio and visual sample of a variety of folk instruments, including guitars, bow harps, log xylophones, tube fiddles, slit drums, cone-shaped drums, goblet shaped drums, steel drums, bowl lyres, and thumb pianos. The repertoire will include pieces performed on each of the above-mentioned folk instruments depicting a variety of playing skills and techniques from global cultures.
