Year-End Gifts to Wabash Mean Tax Benefits

A year-end gift to the Greater Wabash Foundation can mean significant tax benefits for donors, says Steve Hoffman ’85, director of the GWF.

The Greater Wabash Foundation is the annual fund at Wabash College. Through its Top Ten Challenge, the GWF has goals of raising $3.0 million in unrestricted gifts from 50 percent of the College’s alumni during the current fiscal year, which ends June 30, 2003. The goal is to reach the top ten of all annual giving programs nationwide.

Last year the College raised an all-time record $2.77 million. This year, though, there are opportunities for gifts to be doubled by Lilly Endowment, Inc.

All gifts to the GWF by alumni, parents, faculty, staff, and students will be matched dollar-for-dollar by Lilly Endowment. Additionally, all new or increased gifts will be matched by Wabash Trustees through a challenge grant.

According to Hoffman, the time is perfect for a gift to the GWF. “Indiana residents who make a gift by December 31 will receive a 50 percent tax credit up to $100 for individual filers and $200 for joint filers. That benefit, coupled with the Lilly and Trustee challenges, makes it a great time to support Wabash College.”

Donors wishing to make a gift online can do so through the College’s secure web site.

Indiana residents are also reminded that with a minimum gift of $25 they can file for a Wabash College license plate.
