      •   October 13, 2011 Print version Share:

A memorial service for Vic Powell will be held Sunday, October 16 at 2:00 p.m. in the Pioneer Chapel at Wabash. The entire Crawfordsville community is invited to attend.

From 1947 until 1989, Dr. Powell served Wabash as Professor of Speech, Department Chair, Dean of the College, Executive Vice President, and Acting President. He is an honorary alumnus in the Class of 1955. He was an active public servant in Crawfordsville, serving on the City Council and Crawfordsville School Board; presiding over the Parks and Recreation Board; serving on the Board of Police Commissioners; and he was a long-serving member of the Christian Nursing Service Board and the Montgomery County Comprehensive Health Planning Council.

Dr. Powell passed away last Thursday at the age of 91, and is survived by his wife of 64 years, Marion, and two daughters, Carol Lombardi and Karen McCarthy.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Vic and Marion Powell Scholarship Fund at Wabash College.
