The Class of 2025 Commencement Speakers

Luis Rivera IIILuis Rivera III
 
Luis Rivera III majored in psychology with a double-minor in gender studies and Black studies. Rivera earned Distinction in comprehensive examinations and was named a George Lewes Mackintosh Fellows. He was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, Sphinx Club, Sons of Wabash, the Malcolm X Institute of Black Studies, and La Alianza. In addition, Rivera was a member of Psi Chi, Lambda Chi Alpha, ’shOUT and served as president in each. He served as a senior fellow for Wabash Democracy and Public Discourse and was the lead speech tutor for the rhetoric department. He was the student representative on the National Association of Wabash Men board of directors, a board intern for Humans United for Equality, and is currently a member of Lambda Chi Alpha’s international board of directors. Rivera was awarded the Dr. Paul T. Hurt Award for All-Around Freshman Achievement, the Lewis Salter Memorial Award, the Distinguished Senior in Psychology Award, George D. Lovell Award, and the Senior Award of Merit. He is the son of Luis Rivera Jr. and Patricia Rivera and brother of Patrick Rivera. He is originally from Raleigh, North Carolina.

Logan Avery Weilbaker double-majored in theater and Classics. He is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Sons of Wabash. Weilbaker earned Distinction in comprehensive examinations and received the Phi Beta Kappa Prize twice, the Ryan Champion Theater Performance Award, the Jim Leas Outstanding Student-in-Journalism Award, the Erminie C. Leonardis Theater History Award, and was named a Julia Rosenberg Writing Scholar. Weilbaker has been acting for 13 years, has directed five plays, including “12 Angry Men” at Wabash, designed sound, run lights, assisted with wardrobe, worked in the theater box office, and traveled to Prague, Czech Republic, to participate in a puppet-carving workshop. Weilbaker also traveled to Naples, Italy, to study early Greek and Etruscan civilizations in southern Italy. At Wabash, Weilbaker was a member of the Glee Club, a tutor in the writing center, and an award-winning writer and editor for The Bachelor. In his free time, he enjoys kayaking, playing guitar and piano, and solving and creating crossword puzzles. After Wabash, he will spend a year teaching English in the Czech Republic as part of the Fulbright program. He is from Scottsburg, Indiana, and the son of Tim and Missy Weilbaker.
