Colorado - 2013

The Colorado Association of Wabash Men came together on a crisp autumn morning for their 9th annual W.A.B.A.S.H. Day project.  Once again we partnered with the Action Center of Jefferson County.  This was our 6th consecutive year working with this facility located in the western Denver suburb of Lakewood.  The Action Center provides basic human services such as food, clothing and shelter while at the same time providing counseling to obtain self-sufficiency.  They have been in operation since 1968 serving the needs of the residents and homeless of Jefferson County.

Our project this year was performed at their warehouse where we set up an assembly line and made over 500 boxes of nonperishable meals ready for distribution to families in need. Fourteen Wabash Alumni and friends provided nearly 50 hours of combined service.  Our end result was one full moving truck full of meal boxes along with a leftover surplus ready for the next truck.  The day was then capped with a luncheon and typical Wabash fellowship at a local pub.  Our participating alumni ranged in graduating classes from 1965 to 2009, leaving over 45 years of Wabash stories to be told.
