Faculty Recital Concert Sunday Afternoon

August 21, 2012

Wabash College will present a faculty recital concert at 4 p.m., Sunday, August 26. The concert will take place in Salter Concert Hall in the Fine Arts Center and is free and open to the public.

The afternoon music will feature Diane Maximovich Norton, piano and harpsichord and Patrick Burnette, alto saxophone.
The program includes, Jean-Phillipe Rameau’s Les Fêtes de L’Hymen (Sarabande and Rigaudon); Paule Maurice’s Tableaux de Provence; Hans-Martin Linde’s Drei Stücke für Alt-Saxophon und Klavier; and Takashi Yoshimausu’s Fuzzy Bird Sonata.
After receiving his Ph.D. in English from the University of Chicago, Burnette taught at various institutions for a decade. He taught English for one year at Crawfordsville High School (2006-07), and since has worked as a paralegal for Elizabeth Justice.  While he once played flute in a pit band, Burnette has mainly concentrated on the saxophone, which he has played most of his life. Burnette has played with the Wabash College Jazz Band, Christ Lutheran Church’s praise band, and has performed at the Iron Gate.
Norton is an instructor of piano for the Wabash College music department, and has performed both in solo recitals and as soloist with a variety of Wabash instrumental ensembles. Her special interests are in contemporary music, having played the premieres of many works by composers affiliated with Wabash, and in early music, performing on the harpsichord. She serves as the music collection and circulation librarian for the Lilly Library.
