Two first half goals by the Maroons proved to be too much for Wabash to overcome in a 3-1 loss Saturday afternoon at the University of Chicago.

Chicago scored in the seventh minute of the match on a shot from eight yards away by Stanton Coville off a long feed from Alex Clifford. A corner kick was knocked into the Wabash goal on a restart for the second score of the day. Coville added an insurance goal in the second period before the Chicago defense surrendered an own goal in the final six minutes of the match.

Wabash was unable to put a shot on net in the contest and was outshot overall 15-4 by the Maroons.

"We came out very flat today," head coach Roberto Giannini said. "We did not defend well and never really threatened up front the entire first half. We went with a different lineup using some of our players who haven't played that much a chance, and they performed better.

"The overall result is disappointing because we felt Chicago was the type of team we matched up very favorable with. We couldn't defend, we were very disorganized, and there was too much individual play and not enough team play. In the end we were just sloppy. Now we have to regroup again and see what happens on Wednesday."

The Little Giants travel to Franklin Wednesday afternoon for a 7:30 p.m. match.

Results: Chicago 3, Wabash 1
