Wabash senior defensive end Jared Lange has been named to the 2008 American Football Coaches Association Division III All-America Football Team.

Lange, a Terre Haute North High School product, earned a place on the AFCA All-America team by recording 58 tackles, 16 tackles for losses totaling 87 yards, and 7-1/2 sacks for 66 yards. A First Team All-North Coast Athletic Conference and Second Team All-North Region selection, Lange was among the national leaders in sacks per game (.62) and tackles for losses per game (1.33). His tackle-for-loss totals were the best among NCAC players. He helped the Little Giant defense become the 19th-best in the nation against the run (88.67 ypg) and 28th-best in total defense (274 ypg). Lange added three pass defenses and a forced fumble to his 2008 season totals. His forced fumble at Wittenberg set up the game-tying score for the Little Giants, eventually leading to a 13-10 win over the Tigers.

Lange finished his career with 57-1/2 tackles for losses, the third-best total among all Little Giant players. He leaves Wabash with 23-1/2 career sacks, good for seventh on the Wabash all-time list.

Lange was part of three conference championship teams at Wabash on the field. He suffered a broken leg one game into the 2006 season, eventually receiving a medical hardship to return to play this season. He recorded 208 total tackles, two forced fumbles, and two blocked kicks in his career as a Little Giant.

The AFCA All-America team has been in existence since 1945 and currently selects teams in all five college football divisions. The 25 members of the 2008 team were selected by Division III football coaches from around the country.
