WABASH COLLEGE invites applications for the position of Web Developer, in our Information Technology Services department. The web developer designs and builds interactive websites, develops custom programs and applications for academic and administrative offices, and manages databases that serve online content.
Primary duties and responsibilities:
Coding and development: creates, implements, and maintains new and existing interactive, data-driven websites and applications that are tightly integrated with existing systems.
Planning and design: in coordination with the Office of Communications and Marketing, participates in all phases of website and application development, including needs analysis, design, programming, testing, documentation, implementation, and usage analysis.
Web platforms: serves as primary or secondary system administrator for core web platforms including web servers, content management systems, and web databases.
Insures websites and applications meet institutional standards for data security and accessibility.
Investigates new and developing web technologies and guides the College in their introduction and use.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education, prior work experience, and specialized skills and knowledge: Strong web development, programming, and database skills and experience with a variety of tools, systems, languages such as HTML, CSS, ColdFusion, SQL, jQuery, Bootstrap, Java, Microsoft IIS, SQL Server, and Windows Server. Demonstrated ability to develop interactive, database-driven applications and web sites. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent advanced work required. Also ability to learn new programs and technologies quickly; demonstrated ability to work collaboratively; and ability to communicate effectively on technical issues with a wide audience. Higher education experience preferred.
