College Nurse-Part Time

Wabash College invites applications for a part-time College Nurse position. The College Nurse reports to the College Nurse Practitioner and is an essential member of the Student Life Team under the direction of the Dean of Students. The College Nurse supports the operation of the Student Health Center by assisting the College Health Providers during office visits, scheduling appointments, making referral appointments, keeping and reporting records, and managing the health center inventory and supply orders, including medications. The Student Health Center hours are Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m.-2:00 p.m. during the academic year. There are some evening and weekend responsibilities throughout the calendar year as assigned and managed by the College Nurse Practitioner and College Physicians.
Job Responsibilities
- Schedules student appointments with Nurse Practitioner and physicians.
- Schedules student referral appointments as directed by Nurse Practitioner and physicians.
- Keeps records and reports data as needed for the Student Health Center.
- Reviews, approves, and maintains student vital health records, including immunization status.
- Assists health care providers and athletic trainers with sports physicals for intercollegiate athletes.
- Works closely with athletic training staff.
- Coordinates vaccination clinics for immersion groups and study abroad participants, and for the Wabash Community during campus-wide initiatives.
- Dispenses medications, performs blood draws, administers tests, injections, and allergy shots, and renders first aid as needed.
- Provides educational sessions about the Student Health Center and its services for various student organizations, admissions and recruitment events, and new student orientation.
- Participates in the CDC’s ILINET (influenza) surveillance program.
- Works closely with the Montgomery County Health Department regarding reportable diseases and other county-wide initiatives.
- Manages the Health Center inventory, especially its supply of medications.
- Occasional evening and weekend hours.
- Collaborates with Counseling Center.
Required Qualifications
- Registered Nurse with current Indiana License.
- CPR Certified.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient with electronic health records and other computer programs.
Education
- Registered Nurse with current Indiana License.
Experience
- Minimum 1-3 years of prior experience preferred.
- Outpatient clinic experience preferred.
