Summary of Duties and Responsibilities

The Coordinator of Underclassmen Recruitment is responsible for contributing to the overall recruitment efforts of the College and planning and implementing procedures and programs for attracting interest and increasing engagement with students in grades 9-10 with the ultimate goal generating applications from and enrolling these students. The Coordinator will be based on campus with regular travel to larger metropolitan areas in the state of Indiana. Secondary responsibilities include outreach to school counselors and key influencers and the cultivation of Wabash alumni and parent volunteers to promote campus visits and interaction. The Coordinator of Underclassmen Recruitment works closely with Director of Pre-College Programs to help the College meet its enrollment goals.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities

1. Manage a recruitment territory primarily in Indiana with a focus on outreach to underclassman.

2. Represent the College and its summer camp opportunities alongside the Youth Programming and Outreach Coordinator at high school presentations and college fairs across the state.

3. Conduct outreach to school counselors and community-based organizations.

4. Cultivate alumni and parent volunteers as well as friends of the College to support Enrollment Office programming.

5. Develop, in consultation with marketing staff, print and electronic communications to promote the program.

6. Help summer program alumni and their families throughout the college search process, including help with application essays, understanding financial aid, and answering general questions.

7. Assist with camp administration.

8. Perform other duties as assigned.



1. Bachelor’s degree required.

2. Prior experience within a higher education environment and familiarity with selective liberal arts colleges and/or non-profit organizations.

3. Well developed oral and written communication skills.

4. Excellent organizational and analytical skills.

5. Ability to act independently and to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the position without specific supervision by people or procedures, on a regular and continuous basis.

6. Knowledge and understanding of data gathering, organizing and problem-solving.

7. Possess strong human relations and effective communication skills with incoming publics with assistance on matters pertaining to this position. Possess qualities conducive to establishing and

maintaining effective relationships with co-workers in a small office setting and courteous management of telephone calls, messages and visitors.

8. Ability to maintain confidentiality.

9. Ability to manage detail, manage multiple projects, meet deadlines and work with frequent interruptions.

10. Ability to acquire new knowledge and develop new skills

11. Ability to identify with, share in and have a commitment to the mission, and goals of Wabash College.
