Associate Director of Admissions

Date Posted: 10/22/26

Wabash College, a liberal arts college for men, seeks faculty and staff who are committed to providing quality engagement with students, high levels of academic challenge and support, and meaningful experiences that prepare students for life and leadership among diverse populations around the globe.

The Associate Director of Admissions works on campus in Trippet Hall and is often the first admissions officer a family meets when they visit. The position recruits the Indianapolis metro, the College's largest market, conducts admission interviews, and reads applications. It leads the campus-based recruiting team, within the direction set by the Senior Associate Director of Regional Admissions and the Dean: starting July 1, 2027, it will supervise the two admissions officers based in Crawfordsville, and each summer the four admissions interns.

Experienced admissions officers and candidates from sales or relationship-based recruiting are both encouraged to apply. A hire without admissions experience will complete a reading plan during the first cycle before reading on their own. Duties are listed in order of time spent.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Territory recruitment

  • Plan and complete fall and spring travel: high school visits, college fairs, and counselor meetings. Build lasting relationships with counselors, teachers, community organizations, and alumni.
  • Follow up with students and families from first contact through enrollment. Use Slate and market data to decide where to spend time and to track progress against territory goals.
  • Work with faculty, coaches, and Financial Aid on students and families in the territory, athletes and non-athletes alike.
  • Present Wabash to students, parents, educators, and alumni on and off campus.

In-office admissions work

  • Interview prospective students and coordinate the interview process: keep interviews consistent, record notes in Slate, cover the schedule when counselors travel, and look for ways to improve it.
  • Read applications and make admission recommendations in reading season.
  • Staff visit programs and yield events, including Scarlet Honors Weekend; the Admissions Operations Manager runs the visit program.

Leading the campus-based team

  • Starting July 1, 2027, supervise and develop the two admissions officers based in Crawfordsville; second-read applications and mentor newer staff.
  • Hire, train, and supervise the four summer admissions interns, who give campus tours and update recruiting communications, with content direction from the Senior Associate Director of Admissions & Coordinator of Enrollment Communications and tour training from the Admissions Operations Manager.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Four or more years in college admissions with territory results, or in sales or relationship-based recruiting with a record of hitting goals; experience supervising or leading others.
  • Must live in or relocate to the Crawfordsville or Indianapolis area.
  • Valid driver's license; travel, including evenings and weekends in season.
  • Commitment to the mission of a college for men; understanding of selective liberal arts colleges.
  • Knowledge of Indianapolis-area high schools strongly preferred.
  • Strong speaking and writing, with groups and one-on-one.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills; Slate or other CRM experience preferred.
  • Works well on your own and with faculty, coaches, staff, and alumni.
