Assistant Track and Field Jumps & Multi Coach

Wabash College, a NCAA Division III institution and member of the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC), seeks a passionate and dedicated Assistant Track and Field Jumps & Multi Coach to join our athletics staff. This full-time position offers an opportunity to contribute to a program that values excellence, character, and academic rigor.

Position Summary:

The Assistant Track and Field Jumps & Multi Coach assists with all aspects of the men’s track and field program, including recruiting qualified student-athletes, planning and leading practices, providing jumping event-specific instruction and athlete development, and supporting student-athlete well-being and academic success under the guidance of the Head Track and Field Coach.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Head Coach in planning and conducting practices, competitions, strength and conditioning sessions, and athlete development activities.
  • Recruit academically and athletically qualified student-athletes who align with the mission and values of the institution.
  • Provide technical, tactical, and jumping event-specific instruction to enhance individual and team performance in track and field.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of training plans for assigned jumping event groups and multi-athletes which may include sprints, hurdles, jumps, throws, distance, middle distance, relays, or multi-events.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to student-athlete health, safety, academic success, and overall well-being.
  • Support program operations, including travel coordination, equipment management, meet preparation, scheduling, and facility setup as needed.
  • Assist with home meet management, including event setup, coordination, timing, results, officials, volunteers, and other competition-day responsibilities.
  • Uphold and enforce institutional, conference, and NCAA Division III rules, regulations, and compliance standards.
  • Serve as a positive mentor and role model, fostering discipline, sportsmanship, accountability, teamwork, and competitive excellence.
  • Assist with camps, clinics, alumni engagement, recruiting events, and other program outreach or fundraising initiatives.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Head Coach or Athletic Director.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Knowledge of competitive track and field techniques, rules, training principles, and event strategies.
  • Strong commitment to the academic success and holistic development of student-athletes.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and travel as required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and use of administrative systems required.
  • Ability to collaborate with the college community, including senior management, faculty and staff members, students, volunteers, and third-party business partners and vendors.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Previous experience competing or coaching intercollegiate track and field.
  • Familiarity with NCAA rules and regulations and Division III recruiting practices and compliance standards.
  • Prior experience recruiting student-athletes at the collegiate level.
  • Experience coaching a specific track and field event area, such as sprints, hurdles, jumps, throws, distance, middle distance, relays, or multi-events.
  • Experience with meet management, timing systems, results software, or track and field equipment setup.
