Broadcast Engineer and Livestream Director

We are seeking a dynamic, technically skilled, and creative professional to serve as Broadcast Engineer within the College’s Communications and Marketing Office. Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Media Relations, this position plays a central role in advancing the College’s strategic communications through live broadcast production and multimedia storytelling. The successful candidate will be an excellent teacher and mentor for a student workforce and will bring both technical expertise and a strong eye for quality, ensuring that all media and digital touchpoints reflect the College’s brand, values, and voice.

This is a high-energy position that requires work on nights and weekends synced with the College’s academic and athletic calendar to deliver around 25 high-quality, fully produced events annually. The position is full-time and includes full benefits.

Duties and Responsibilties: 

Broadcast Engineer and Livestream Director

  • Serve as the primary Broadcast Engineer and Director for all College livestream events, including athletics, academic ceremonies, special events, and institutional programs.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute all technical aspects of live productions, including camera setup, audio mixing, graphics, encoding, and livestream distribution.
  • Recruit, hire, develop, schedule, and supervise student staff who support live broadcast operations, fostering a culture of professionalism and continuous learning.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot broadcast equipment; identify and recommend capital improvements to keep the College’s broadcast infrastructure current.

Visual Storytelling and Cinematography Support

  • Collaborate closely with the College’s Cinematographer to develop and refine storyboards for video production, ensuring a cohesive and compelling visual narrative.
  • Contribute creative and technical perspective in pre-production planning sessions, including shot lists, scripting support, and location scouting.
  • Assist with production and post-production tasks as needed, ensuring continuity and brand alignment across all video assets. 

Podcast Production Support

  • Provide technical support for College podcast initiatives, including recording setup, editing, and file preparation for distribution.
  • Recruit, hire, and train a student editor to assist with post-production to ensure consistent quality and efficient production.
  • Coordinate publishing and scheduling of podcast episodes across platforms, supporting the broader content calendar managed by the Communications and Marketing team.

Requirements and Qualificiations: 

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Demonstrated professional experience in broadcast engineering, livestream production, or a combination of these areas.
  • Experience hiring and developing student employees.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, meet deadlines, and work effectively with a variety of stakeholders.

Preferred

  • Experience in a higher education setting.
  • Familiarity with podcast production workflows and digital audio tools.
  • Experience with storyboarding, video pre-production, or collaborative creative development.
