Position Overview

Wabash College invites applications for the position of Assistant Athletic Director – Facilities, Equipment, and Game Operations (AAD). This key leadership role within the Athletics Department ensures the smooth operation, maintenance, and scheduling of all athletic facilities and equipment, while also managing game day operations for several varsity sports.

The successful candidate will be responsible for facility coordination, capital project support, equipment and inventory management, and game day logistics. This role serves as the primary liaison with Facilities Services and plays an integral part in shaping the athletic environment for student-athletes, coaches, fans, and the broader campus community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the use of athletic facilities for varsity athletics, campus groups, and external clients.
  • Oversee all athletic department auxiliary operations, including:
    • Equipment room and laundry services
    • Fitness Center equipment and maintenance
    • Locker room assignments
    • Inventory and storage management
  • Serve as Director of Athletic Facilities:
    • Lead planning and implementation of small-scale capital projects within athletics
    • Collaborate with college facilities planning team on major facility initiatives
    • Contribute to fundraising strategies and promotions related to facility needs
    • Coordinate with custodial, maintenance, and grounds teams for ongoing facility support
  • Manage game day operations for assigned sports (baseball, basketball, tennis, wrestling) and assist with others as needed.
  • Ensure positive experiences for visiting teams, officials, spectators, and students during events.
  • Hire, train, and supervise student employees working in various facility and event roles.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics and Recreation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in Sports Management or related field strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in athletic operations, facility management, or related field. Experience in higher education athletics preferred.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and general administrative systems.
  • Familiarity with budgeting, project management, and inventory control is a plus.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, including students, coaches, faculty, staff, vendors, and visitors.
