| Description: | This course will take a deeper look at one application of the fundamental concepts and reactivity learned in Organic Chemistry: dyes. From textiles to medicine to cutting-edge experiments using fluorescence, organic dyes are chemical tools with a long and fruitful history. This course will focus on the organic chemistry of designing, synthesizing, and using dyes, and will engage with primary literature. This one-half credit course meets for the first half of the semester. |
