| Course Section Number: | PSC-312-01 |
| Department: | Political Science |
| Description: | Though they were hardly central to the original design of the American political system, political parties, elections, and pressure (or interest, or advocacy) groups - hereafter PEGs - have become essential to politics and government in the United States. In this course, we'll examine how that came to be, the role PEGs play in contemporary U.S. politics, and the implications for American democracy. This course offering is timed to coincide with the nomination stage of the 2020 presidential election, which will be a major focus of our seminar-style discussions and other course work. Prerequisites: PSC-111 or instructor permission. |
