Title: African Amer Faith Traditions

Description: BLS-270-01 = REL-280-02 African American Faith Traditions. This course will introduce students to the critical study of African American religious practices and traditions. Students will be exposed to the historiography of African American institutional religion (i.e., the history of black churches, temples, etc.) as well as the sectarian rituals and worldviews of worshiping black communities. The aim here is to get a rich understanding of the ways in which the religious life is manifested among black people as they respond to their period, region and social conditions.
