| Description: | PSY 210-01 = GEN 209-01: Psychology of Sex and Gender What are the differences between men and women? Why do we tend to emphasize the differences rather than the many similarities? In this course, we will review psychological theory and empirical findings regarding common beliefs about gender, the impact of biological sex on behavior, the role of cultural forces on the construction of gender, the relationship of gender to traditional issues in psychology (e.g., moral development, personality, interpersonal relationships), and special issues pertinent to gender (e.g., gender violence). This course is designed to equip students to critically analyze the evidence for sex differences and similarities, gender roles, and the effect of gender on traditional issues in psychology.
