Peer Career Advisors

Career Services is seeking ambitious students to join our staff of Career Advisors for the academic year 2006-2007.

Qualified candidates will posses self-motivation, integrity, initiative and excellent written and verbal communication skills. Applicants must be ESH eligible.


Career Advisors duties and responsibilities include:
•Orient students with WabashWorks, our online e-recruiting system
•Assist students with resume and cover letter development
•Promote and advocate awareness of career services resources
•Create and deliver career presentations to student groups
•Greet students and employers visiting Career Services
•Attend Monthly CA staff Meetings and training sessions
•Attend August Orientation Workshops (Mandatory)
•Assist with other duties as assigned including: Career Fairs, On Campus Recruiting, Guest Speakers, etc.

Work Availability Must Include Both Week Days (Monday –Friday) 8am-4:30pm and Evenings 7-10pm (Monday –Thursday) Hours

What do Career Advisors gain from this position?
Increased understanding of career search process to include: Internships, full-time employment and graduate school. Enhanced knowledge about career opportunities and what employers are seeking. Practice with individual and group presentation skills. Opportunities to connect with employers, graduate school representatives and alumni.

ESH (Employment Student Helper) application, Resume
And Cover letter answering the following  3 questions:
1. Why do you want to be a Career Advisor? Include qualities that you posses that would make you effective.
2. What is the role of Career Services on campus?
3. How did you hear about this position?

Interested in the position, but still have questions? Talk to our current career advisors who are available Monday through Thursday nights 7-10pm in the Schroeder Center for Career Development located at 502 W. Wabash Ave.
