ESH Coordinator

Wabash College seeks a detail-oriented and forward-thinking individual to revise, strengthen, and manage our Employment Self Help (ESH) program which currently provides students with on-campus job opportunities. The program is a Wabash program funded by the College.  Students receive ESH eligibility through their financial aid packages.  The program currently employs over 500 students and more than 80 worksites across campus.  The ESH Coordinator will be responsible for overhauling the program and professionalizing these work/study opportunities. S/he will work with members in the Financial Aid, Business, and Career Services offices, as well as in the Center of Inquiry, to manage the program.  On a trial basis, the ESH coordinator will expand the program to include local off-campus sites as well, and will be responsible for creating those relationships and determining the future direction of off-campus work.

 

Reporting Structure: Position reports to the Director of Career Services and the Dean of Students and is a part of the Student Life division of the College.

 

Job description:

 

ESH

-   Coordinate a review of the current ESH program and institute changes to strengthen the program

-   Cooperate with the Financial Aid and the Business Offices, on payroll, employee documentation, acting as the central administrator of the ESH program for the campus community

-   Work with ESH supervisors to develop student job descriptions and work expectations, a student

   performance review process (including employee file system, forms, timing, and reporting)

-   Advertise and market all ESH positions to eligible students

-   Work with campus departments to identify and help create additional ESH opportunities

-   Cooperate with Financial Aid Office to determine ESH rules, regulations, and eligibility and identify areas where changes are needed

-   Develop a training guide for ESH employees and manage mandatory training sessions for all students seeking to begin employment

-   Conduct periodic training sessions for ESH supervisors on policies, best practices

-   Develop and execute a plan to expand ESH opportunities to off-campus sites, initially with community service and business development/support roles with the assistance of Center of Inquiry staff.  Market the program to potential local off-campus partners and coordinate the logistics of the program with them.

-   Work with individual student, faculty, staff, and off-campus user issues that arise

-   Assist Career Services staff on joint programs and initiatives

 

QUALIFICATIONS
 
Required: Bachelors degree.  Experience working with undergraduates in student-centered culture.  Excellent verbal/written communication skills.  Experience recruiting and advising students.  Ability to work independently with guidance from supervisor in a team-oriented office.  Ability to make sound judgments and handle confidentiality. Sense of humor and creativity.  A willingness to be an integral part of the Wabash College community.

Associate Registrar

Wabash College is looking for an Associate Registrar to start on or before Nov. 1, 2008. (Earlier start date is negotiable.) The position reports to the Registrar and carries the responsibility for supervision of the daily operation of traditional Registrar’s Office tasks, including maintaining student records, course schedule building and registration, and preparation of advising materials; and with primary responsibility for course schedule changes, waitlists, transfer and AP credit, grade processing, degree auditing, diploma processing, and reporting for internal use and external agencies.

A minimum of three to five years experience in an academic setting, and a Bachelors degree; or an equivalent combination of experience, training and /or education required. Prior work experience as an assistant or associate registrar or equivalent preferred. Hands on experience with an automated student information system required, Datatel preferred. An ability to utilize Microsoft Word, Excel and an ability to adapt to changing technology required.  Student and faculty service orientation and solid organizational skills required. A demonstrated ability to work independently on multiple tasks with a high degree of accuracy; to solve problems; to speak and write well and to deal with the public and campus community in a helpful and courteous manner; and to obtain and use information with tact and discretion expected. Ability to understand and administer curricular requirements required.

Part-Time Art Gallery Director

Wabash College, a selective private liberal arts college for men, announces two openings for recruitment positions in its Office of Admissions. Located 45 miles northwest of Indianapolis, Wabash is among the distinguished schools nationwide that are featured in the guide, Colleges That Change Lives.

Responsibilities include: promoting the College to diverse populations, managing an assigned geographic territory through personal contact, volunteer management, phone, electronic and written communications, and on- and off-campus activities and events (extensive travel in fall); generating a targeted number of applications, reviewing applications from an assigned region and making recommendations for admission; contributing to meeting the overall recruitment goals of the College; and representing Wabash College with alumni, parents, and professional and student groups.

Coordinate and supervise costume design, construction, rental, wardrobe, and make-up needs for all mainstage productions and student-directed one-acts.

Plan and ensure timely provisions of costume elements to established production schedule.

Coordinate and participate in fittings, maintain budgets, and organize the purchase of materials for construction and maintenance of costumes.

Oversee, instruct, and supervise student employees and contract labor as required to complete work within budgetary guidelines.

Maintain all costume shop machinery, tools, inventory, and stock.

Perform other functions incidental to theater activities as needed or requested.
