2007 Big Bash — Day One
These two guys probably win the award for having traveled the farthest to attend Big Bash Reunion Weekend. Brandon Mitchener and Scott Cougill, both from the Class of 1987, traveled from Brussells and Thailand, respectively. Cougill's journey took 34 hours, door-to-door, including a 15-hour plane ride from Singapore to Los Angeles.
Friendly face: One of the first people to greet Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels upon his arrival was Jon Pactor ’71. Pactor and Daniels were high school classmates at North Central High School in Indianapolis. The Governor will be hosting the 40th high school reunion of the class later this summer. Also pictured in the middle is Dave Donahue, the Commissioner of the Indiana Department of Corrections.
Greg Castanias ’87, an attorney at Jones Day in Washington who specializes in the firm's issues and appeals practice, gave a colloquium talk about his experiences arguing before the Supreme Court of the United States. Castanias, who has been before the Court on three different occasions, said, "It's a gut-wrenching experience when you're sitting at the counsel table for the first time right in front of the court." Later he said, "Sometimes when you go before the Supreme Court you need to redefine 'victory.'"
