The Little Giants scored seven victories in ten varsity wrestling matches Tuesday night to defeat Manchester College 27-12.
Wabash opened with a victory at 125 pounds by Josh Boyer. The Little Giant sophomore needed overtime to score a 13-12 win. Freshman Oscar Trujillo scored an 11-5 win at 133 pounds to put Wabash in front 6-0 in the team scoring.
Freshman Jake Strausbaugh continued his outstanding rookie season, recording his 29th victory of the season with pin at the 1:49 mark of his 141-pound bout against Manchester's Corey Martinez.
The Spartans scored the next two wins before junior Graham Youngs took his first victory of the season. Youngs, who spent the fall semester as part of the Wabash study abroad program, scored an 8-3 win at 165 pounds for a 15-9 Little Giant lead. Tyler McCoy battled throughout his 184-pound match against Manchester's Chris Chasteen, coming away with a 3-1 victory.
Senior Michael Burke (top left) returned to action after missing the last few weeks with a knee injury to score a pin at 2:11 in the 197-pound bout against Shawn Deetz. Fellow senior Rob Arnett finished the night the same way it started for Wabash, going into overtime before picking up a 5-3 sudden victory at heavyweight.
Wabash will serve as hosts for the annual Monon Bell Duals this Saturday at Chadwick Court. Competition begins at 9 a.m.
