Founded in 1832, Wabash College is a selective liberal arts institution for men enrolling approximately 900 students from across the U.S. and two dozen foreign countries, and is the home of the nationally recognized Center of Inquiry in the Liberal Arts and The Wabash Center for Teaching and Learning in Theology and Religion. Wabash was chosen by Forbes Magazine as one of the Top 10 colleges Nationwide for Affordability and Productivity and by Princeton Review as one of America’s Best Colleges 2006, ranking nationally in nine categories from academics to athletics. Each year, Wabash sets national benchmarks in the National Survey of Student Engagement. Our mission is excellence in teaching and learning within a community built on close and caring relationships among students, faculty, and staff. Wabash offers a superior education, fostering independent intellectual inquiry, critical thought, and clear written and oral expression. The College educates its students broadly in the traditional curriculum of the liberal arts, while also requiring them to pursue concentrated study in one or more disciplines. Wabash challenges its students to appreciate the changing nature of the global society and prepares them for the responsibilities of leadership and service in it. Wabash provides for its students an unusually informal, egalitarian, and participatory environment which encourages young men to adopt a life of intellectual and creative growth, self-awareness, and physical activity. The College seeks to cultivate qualities of character and leadership in students by developing not only their analytical skills, but also sensitivity to values, and judgment and compassion required of involved citizens.
