Title: | Literature and Masculinity |
---|---|
Course Section Number: | GEN-270-01 |
Department: | Gender Studies |
Description: | This course will explore how contemporary literature impacts and shapes masculinity. Students will read novels, short stories, poetry, creative nonfiction, and theory to ask how contemporary texts reify or challenge gender norms. Are definitions of masculinity expanding, creating spaces for men that didn't exist before? Or are they contracting? Or both? We will grapple with these questions, using theory to help us read and interpret texts as well as understand the complex cultural forces that shape masculinity today. GEN-270-01=ENG=270-01 |
