Course Section Number: | REL-272-01 |
Department: | Religion |
Description: | From ancient Rome to Waco, Texas, Jewish and Christian groups have shared visions of the end of the world. This course will study the history of these communities from Roman antiquity to medieval Europe to recent apocalyptic movements. Using the lenses of social and cultural history, we will examine how these apocalyptic ideas have been shaped by historical events and how groups have interacted with, and often changed, society.
