Title: Neurodiversity Lit,Film,TV
Course Section Number: ENG-370-01
Department: English
Description: This class addresses multiple ways of knowing, experiencing, and representing the world. We will explore literary and media representations of and by people on the Autism Spectrum. While neurodivergency is often considered "abnormal," we will take it seriously as a valid form of meaning-making. We will read novels and short stories by people on the Autism Spectrum as well as analyze film and TV representations of neurodivergency. We will also address the growing body of theory on neurodiversity and its place in education and society. I welcome everyone to this class regardless of major or experience; however, I would like to have a brief conversation with you before you enroll in the course.
