Description: Sports and the Law: Mascots, Money, and Monopolies The course explores complicated cultural issues through the lens of sports and the law, such as multi-million dollar athletics departments on college campuses, the evolution of gender equality in society through athletics participation, and current legal sports issues in the headlines. Should elite college athletes receive compensation for their name, image, and likeness? How do we define amateurism? Does legalized sports wagering affect the integrity of the game? The class will travel to the NCAA National Office in Indianapolis during the semester
