NCAA Baseball Regional - Wabash 9, CNU 3

Senior Brian Van Duyn scattered eight hits over nine innings to give Wabash its first victory in school history in the NCAA Division III Baseball Tournament. The Little Giants knocked number-one seeded Christopher Newport out of the tournament Thursday afternoon with a 9-3 victory in Millington, Tennessee.

PJ Tyson's three-run triple in the third inning gave the Little Giants the early lead. Tyson scored on a single by Brian Lares to put Wabash in front 4-0. Tyson added an RBI double as part of a four-run fourth inning, as well.

Junior Chris Deig collected two hits Thursday, giving him 63 for the season to tie Jake Thomas for Wabash single-season record.

John Pennington avoided this tag at home plate to score one of the nine Wabash runs in the win. Pennington finished the game with three hits.

John Holm made this catch near the Christopher Newport bull pen.

Montana Timmons made this running catch early in the game to keep Christopher Newport off the scoreboard. Timmons added two hits and an RBI in the Little Giants' victory.

Senior Tanner Coggins added an RBI single to the Little Giants' hit total of 17 for the game.

Joe Johnson made several good plays at second and had two hits for Wabash in its 9-3 victory Thursday.
