a construction site with workers

There was a flurry of activity at the construction site Thursday (June 17) morning. Subcontractors were beginning the process of prepping the site for concrete. Photos by Kyle Bender ’12.

The recent influx of summer storms has slowed the progress, but Project Manager Mike Strolle gave assurance that the crew remains on schedule.

All the dirt must be removed from the edge of the track as a concrete drain will be formed that runs the perimeter of the field.

However, sometimes the machines just can’t get all of the dirt. In this case, good old-fashioned manpower is needed.

There are numerous holes dug across the field. Those will need to be filled in before the carpet gets laid.

This stretch of track is ready for concrete. It will take several days for the workers to finish the entire 400 meter oval before concrete may be poured.

We stumbled upon the architect drawings – the crew is closely following the plans.

There were also renderings of the soccer, practice football, and intramural fields to be built at Mud Hollow!
