by Richard Paige • September 29, 2015 Print version Share:
Prior to Homecoming Chapel, Bob ’57 and Betty H’57 reminisced about Wabash, DePauw, and their days in Mud Hollow for a Wabash on My Mind podcast. President Gregory Hess welcomes alumni and their families to Homecoming Chapel. Betty Allen tells a story during the Wabash on My Mind podcast. Honorary alumna Professor Kay Widdows applauds John C. Schroeder ’69 as he steps forward for his Alumni Award of Merit. Richard Widdows glances at his wifes honorary alumna citation. Professor Widdows talks with students and alumni following the ceremony. A proud moment for Bob Allen 57 as NAWM Rick Cavanaugh read the honorary alumna citation for Betty Allen.
Amy Allen takes a phone photo of her mom during the reading of the citation.
Jay and Susan Allen enjoy the moment. After a standing ovation and a gentle kiss, Bob and Betty walk back to seats in the Chapel. NAWM Career Services Fellow John Castro ’97 NAWM Career Services Fellow Aurelian Bukatko ’73 Professor Bill Cook ’66 received the Clarence A. Jackson Career Service Award. Dr. Stephen Jay earned the Fredrick J. Urbaska Civic Service Award for his “lifetime commitment to tobacco use prevention and smoking cessation. John C. As the calendar turns to fall and alumni return to their alma mater, Wabash College celebrated the contributions of its men to society as part of its Homecoming Weekend festivities.

Saturday was the heart of all activities with the Alumni Awards Chapel, the Leadership luncheon, and the Little Giants 38-0 win over Hiram.

The activity began Thursday with Chapel Sing, one of Wabash’s most cherished rites of passage in front of Pioneer Chapel. Theta Delta Chi won the Sing for the second straight year.

Alumni took center stage Saturday with a multitude of festivities. Primary among was Homecoming Alumni Chapel.. The National Association of Wabash Men general meeting, which celebrates the spirit of Barney Hollett ’36, recognizes alumni service winners:

Make time to stop by the Eric Dean Gallery in the Fine Arts Center to see 35 Retro: Doug Calisch. Gallery hours are Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m., and Saturday 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
