West Coast Trip Ends with 14-7 Loss at Redlands

Wabash ended its spring break trip to California on Saturday afternoon with a 14-7 loss at the University of Redlands.

The Little Giants 4-0 before scoring their first run of the game in the fourth inning. Montana Timmons laced a single to third and scored two batters later on an RBI double by David Seibel. The Bulldogs answered with two runs in the bottom of the fourth, then exploded with a five-run fifth inning to take a 11-1 lead. A three-run sixth put Redlands (11-4) up 14-1.

Wabash mounted a late rally in the seventh inning, sending 11 batters to the plate to score six runs. Seibel had two hits in the inning, including a two-run single in his second at bat of the frame. John Pennington added a two-run single, while John Holm and Chris Deig also produced run-scoring singles.

Seibel went 3-for-5 to lead Wabash in hitting. Deig and Timmons each added two hits out of Wabash's total of 11.

Chris Widup took the loss, giving up 14 hits and 10 earned runs in 4-2/3 innings. He walked one and struck out three Bulldog batters. Nate Adams pitched 2/3 of an inning with three runs scoring on four hits and one walk. JT Miller worked a scoreless 2/3 of an inning, allowing only one hit and one walk. Andrew Swart gave up one hit in two innings of relief pitching with a walk and two strikeouts.

Wabash returns to Indiana with a record of 2-10 overall after going 0-8 during its California trip. The Little Giants return to action Wednesday afternoon with a 3:30 contest at DePauw University.
