Turnovers Doom Little Giants in Hoop Exhibition

The Wabash basketball team showed it could stay even in most areas with Division I scholarship program Indiana State University. The Sycamores took advantage of 21 Little Giant turnovers to score 27 points in a 71-60 exhibition victory over Wabash Saturday in Terre Haute, Indiana.

Wes Smith (right) scored 21 points to pace the Wabash scoring effort. He also led the Little Giants with nine rebounds and had three steals and three assists.Senior guard Dominique Thomas added nine points, while newcomer Pete Nicksic tossed in seven. Junior Aaron Zinnerman added six points and three assists in the game. 

Dwayne Lathan led the Sycamores with 18 points, scoring 11 from the free throw line. Jordan Printy was 4-of-7 from the field in an 11-point effort.

The Little Giants trailed 41-33 at the half after taking an early three-point lead over the host ISU squad. The Sycamores stretched their halftime advantage to 19 points before Wabash trimmed it to the 11-point final. ISU only outscored Wabash by three in the final period.

Wabash opens the 2010-2011 season on Tuesday, November 16 at home against Marian University with the opening tip at Chadwick Court set for 7:30 p.m.
