Glee Club Returns Home in Concert with University of Indianapolis Women's Chorus

The Wabash College Glee Club will join forces on Saturday, April 3, for a fifth-anniversary concert with the University of Indianapolis Women's Choir. The performance will take place in Salter Hall beginning at 8 p.m. This event also marks the Spring Home Concert for the Glee Club following its successful tour of the Midwest in March, highlighted by concerts in Pittsburgh, Columbus, Nashville, Louisville, and Cincinnati.

In the first half of the program, the University of Indianapolis Women's Chorus will offer sacred selections by Gabriel Fauré, David Conte, and Pablo Casals, as well as a folk song and a spiritual. The men of the Glee Club will respond with a Sacred Harp arrangement and three spirituals. The second part of the program includes a special rendition by the women of Smokey Robinson's "Get Ready" and several love songs by the men, including "Kiss the Girl" and "Landlord, Fill the Flowing Bowl." The two choral groups will join forces to sing four sections from Schubert's lovely, tuneful Mass in G.

The University of Indianspolis Women's Choir is directed by Professor Paul Krasnovsky, and the Glee Club is led by Wabash Music Department Chair, Larry Bennett. The accompanist for the women is Maureen Walton, and the Glee Club pianist is Cheryl Everett. Violinist Laura Deaton and cellist Matt Williams will also perform with the Women's Chorus. The joint concert is sponsored by the Wabash College Music Department. It is free and open to the public.
